How do I prevent an application from automatically starting when my Mac boots up?

  1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences to open the System Preferences window.

  2. Locate and click Accounts.

  3. Select the desired account from the My Account panel. From the Login Items, tab select the desired appliction then click the "-" button (located to the right of the "+" button).

  4. The application has been removed from the starup list. Close the Preferences window.
