How can I auto-arrange all the files and folders in Finder?

By default, files and folder in Finder are unorganized. You can setup Finder to auto-arrange your files and folders by following the outlined steps below.

        
  1. From the Dock, locate and click the Finder icon.

  3. From the Finder menu, click View > Show View Options.

  5. From View Options window, select This window only to apply the settings to the current open folder in Finder or select All windows to apply the settings to all folders and files in Finder. Select Keep arrange by then from the drop-down list select the desired option (e.g. Name) then close View Options.

  7. You have successfully modified the View Options in Finder!
